Microsoft already backs up my 365 data, right?+
No. Microsoft is responsible for the platform, you're responsible for the data. Third-party backup is essential.
How often do you test restores?+
We run scheduled restore drills and provide evidence. No more 'fingers crossed' on the day it matters.
What if we get hit by ransomware?+
Our immutable backups are isolated from your production environment, so we can rebuild cleanly without paying anyone.
How long should Microsoft 365 data be backed up for?+
We recommend a minimum retention of 12 months for Exchange, SharePoint, OneDrive and Teams, with 7-year retention available for regulated sectors. Microsoft's own recycle bin only retains deleted items for 30 to 93 days, which is not a backup.
What is the difference between backup and disaster recovery?+
Backup protects your data so it can be restored. Disaster recovery protects your business operations so you can keep working while systems are being restored. A full DR plan covers RTO (how fast you're back up) and RPO (how much data you can afford to lose), tested with real drills.
How quickly can you recover after a ransomware attack?+
With immutable, air-gapped backups and a documented recovery runbook, most SMEs can restore core Microsoft 365 and file services within 4 to 24 hours, and full business operations within 1 to 3 days. Without those foundations, recovery typically takes 2 to 4 weeks.
Are immutable backups the same as air-gapped backups?+
Similar but not identical. Immutable backups can't be altered or deleted for a set retention period, even by an admin. Air-gapped backups are physically or logically separated from the production network. We use both, so ransomware can't reach or encrypt your recovery copy.
